Make sure there is no paper jammed behind the photodeveloper cartridge:

1Press the button on the right side of the printer to release the scanner unit.

2Lift the scanner unit, and then open the top cover.

3Remove the photodeveloper cartridge.

4Remove any loose paper from the photodeveloper cartridge housing.

5Install the photodeveloper cartridge.

6Close the top cover, and then close the scanner unit.

Note: A paper jam message may not occur if there is a jam behind the photodeveloper cartridge. Along with the smeared print, there may be paper scraping sounds coming from the photodeveloper cartridge housing.

Replace the toner cartridge causing the line.

Is the fuser defective or worn?

Replace the fuser.
