Upgrading an Enterprise 3000 to CMS R3V9

Copying and activating the customer’s administration and options

Overview

After you verify the new configuration, do the following:

Install CMS patches.

Copy the customer’s data from the extract tape onto the system.

Activate the customer’s options.

Shut down and reboot the system.

Remove any temporary ACDs that you created during the extraction phase of the upgrade process.

Verify CMS permissions.

Turn on CMS.

Verify that CMS is operating.

Check Free Space Allocation (FSA).

Compare directory and file permissions.

Update the switch setup.

Set the Informix configuration parameters.

Remove the upgrade files.

Migrate the customer’s data.

Replace the customer’s tapes in the tape drives.

Note:

When the upgrade is being supported by remote personnel, such as CMS Provisioning, the system commands in this section are for use by remote personnel to monitor the progress of the upgrade. Run the commands from the local console only when instructed to do so, or when there is no remote support.
