4.Press the right soft key repeatedly to select the character entry mode that contains the character you are searching for (:, ! or %).

5.Press the dial key ({0} to {9}) which contains the character you are searching for.

L Press the same dial key repeatedly to select the character you are searching for.

6.Press ,.

LThe first item beginning with the character you selected is displayed. If there is no such item, the next item will be displayed.

7.Push the joystick down repeatedly to display the desired item.

To search for a name by category

1.Press .(soft key).

2.Press &.

3.Select Category, then press ,.

4.Select the category you want to search, then press ,.

L The first item in that category is displayed. L If Memory Emptyis displayed, the

category you selected has no items.

5.Push the joystick down repeatedly to display the desired item.

4.4.3 Editing a stored item

1Press .(soft key).

2Push the joystick up or down repeatedly to display the desired item.

4Select Edit, then press ,.

LIf you do not need to edit the name, skip to step 6.

5Edit the name. For further details, see the storing procedure on page 34.

6Press ,.

LIf you do not need to edit the telephone number, skip to step 8.

7Edit the telephone number. For further details, see the storing procedure on page 34.

8Press ,.

9Select the category, or select Off.

10Press ,2 times.

LTo edit other items, repeat steps 2 to 10.

4.4.4 Erasing a stored item

1Press .(soft key).

2Push the joystick up or down repeatedly to display the desired item.

4Select Delete, then press ,.

5Select Yes.

LTo cancel erasing, press {ih}.

6Press ,.

7Press {ih}.

4.4.5 Hot key

Cordless handset dial keys {1} to {9} can each be used as a hot key, allowing you to dial a number from the cordless handset phonebook by simply pressing a dial key.

Assigning an item to a hot key

1.Press .(soft key).

2.Push the joystick up or down repeatedly to select the desired item.

L You can also find an item using one of the search methods on page 34.

3.Press *.

4.Select Reg. to Hot Key, then press

,.

5.Push the joystick up or down repeatedly to select a desired dialling button.

L Dial keys which have been registered as a hot key already will have a Q next to them. You can overwrite previous hot keys if desired.

6.Press ,2 times.

7.Press {ih}.

Note:

LIf there are no items stored in the cordless handset phonebook when searching for the desired item, the display shows Memory Empty.

Making a call using a hot key

1.Press and hold the desired hot key ({1} to

{9}).

L You can view other hot key registrations by pushing the joystick up or down.

2.Press {C} or {s}.
