Adjusting Back Height
9000 SL without Adjustable Back Angle Option
NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 3.2.
NOTE: There are two (2) height ranges of back canes with three (3) height settings within each range (15 to 17‐inches or 17 to 19‐inches) and two (2) back upholstery heights available.
1.If changing back canes, remove the existing back upholstery. Refer to Replacing the Back Upholstery in the Owner’s Manual, part number 1056953. Otherwise, proceed to STEP 2.
2.Flip swing back arms up and out of the way. Refer to Swing‐Back Arms in the Owner’s Manual, part number 1056953.
3.Remove the mounting screw and locknut that secure the existing back cane to the wheelchair frame.

NOTE: Make a note of mounting screw and locknut orientation for reinstallation.
4.Remove existing back cane if changing height range.
5.Repeat STEPS 2‐3 for opposite side of wheelchair.
6.Slide the new/existing back canes into the wheelchair frame.

7. Line up mounting holes in the wheelchair frame and the new/existing back canes.
NOTE: The back canes contain a threaded insert. Make sure mounting holes in the insert line up with the mounting holes in the back cane (Detail “A”).
8.Install new/existing back cane by performing the following:
A.Thread existing mounting screw through the threaded insert of the new/existing back canes.
B.Securely tighten mounting screw and locknut that secure the new/existing back cane to the wheelchair frame.
9.If changing back canes, securely tighten the new back upholstery to the back canes. Refer to Replacing the Back Upholstery in the Owner’s Manual, part number 1056953. Otherwise, proceed to STEP 9.
10.Flip the swing‐back arms down for use. Refer to Swing‐Back Arms in the Owner’s Manual, part number 1056953.
