SECTION 3—SEAT AND BACK

Adjusting Seat Depth

WARNING

The seat depth, back height/angle, seat angle, size/position of the front casters, size/position of the rear wheels, anti-tipper model, as well as the user condition directly relate to the stability of the wheelchair. Any change to one (1) or any com- bination of the ten (10) may cause the wheelchair to decrease in stability. Use extreme caution when using a new seating position.

9000XT Model

NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 3.5.

1.Remove the existing seat upholstery from the crossbraces. Refer to Replacing Seat Upholstery in the Owner’s Manual, part number 1056953.

NOTE: When adjusting the seat depth of the wheelchair, the seat upholstery MUST also be changed.

2.Remove the two (2) plug buttons from the ends of the crossbraces that are toward the front of the wheelchair.

NOTE: The plug buttons are used in the ends of the seat extension spacers.

3.Install the two (2) seat extension tubes into the ends on the crossbraces.

4.Perform one (1) of the following:

1‐inch Seat Extension ‐ Align the frontmost mounting hole of the seat extension tube with the frontmost mounting hole in the crossbrace.

2‐inch Seat Extension ‐ Align the middle mounting hole of the seat extension tube with the frontmost mounting hole in the crossbrace.

5.Repeat STEP 4 for the opposite seat extension tube.

6.Install the two (2) seat extension spacers onto the two (2) seat extension tubes.

7.Secure the new seat upholstery to the crossbraces. Refer to Replacing Seat Upholstery in the Owner’s Manual, part number 1056953.

NOTE: Make sure to line up the mounting holes in the seat extension tubes and the seat extension spacers with the new seat upholstery.

8. Install plug buttons into the ends of the seat extension spacers.
