SECTION 3—SEAT AND BACK

9000 XDT and 9000 SL

NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 3.6.

NOTE: 9000 XDT wheelchairs have two (2)

frame depth ranges: 16 to 18 inches and 19 to 20 inches. A 16‐18‐inch frame depth wheelchair cannot be adjusted to a 19 to 20‐inch range and vice‐versa.

1.Remove the existing seat upholstery from the wheelchair. Refer to Replacing the Seat Upholstery in the Owner’s Manual, part number 1056953.

NOTE: When adjusting the seat depth of the wheelchair, the seat upholstery MUST also be changed.

2.Remove the two (2) plug buttons from the ends of the crossbraces that are towards the front of the wheelchair.

NOTE: The two (2) plug buttons are used in the ends of the seat extension tubes.

3.Install the two (2) seat extension tubes into the ends on the crossbraces.

4.Perform one (1) of the following:

9000 XDT ‐ Align the second mounting hole from the rear of the seat extension tube with the frontmost mounting hole in the crossbrace.

NOTE: DO NOT use back mounting hole. If back mounting hole is used, the mounting hole for the other mounting screw will not line up properly.

9000 SL ‐ Align the rear mounting hole of the seat extension tube with the second mounting hole from the front of the crossbrace. Slide spacer tube over seat extension tube.

NOTE: The rear mounting hole is further from its end of the seat extension tube than the front mounting hole is from its end.

NOTE: The end of the spacer tube that is closer to the spacer tube mounting hole should face to the front.

5. Repeat STEP 4 for the opposite seat extension tube.
