REPLACING THE RECLINER CABLES (FIGURE 3)
NOTE: For ease of assembly, replace one (1) recliner cable at a time.
REMOVING EXISTING RECLINER CABLES
1.Cut the tie wraps that secure the recliner cable to the back cane.
2.Remove the mounting screw and the locknut that secures the recline trigger release lever to the back cane.
NOTE: Save the mounting screw and locknut for reuse when installing the NEW recliner cables.
3.Remove the recline trigger release lever from the back cane.
4.Loosen the cable locking nut that secures the recliner cable to the recline trigger release lever (DETAIL "A").
5.Unscrew the cable locking collar that secures the recliner cable to the recline trigger release lever (DETAIL "A").
6.Remove the end of the recliner cable from the slot in the recline trigger release lever (DETAIL "A").
7.Unscrew the fitting end of the recliner cable from the recline trigger release lever (DETAIL "A").
8.Unscrew the cable locking nut that secures the recliner cable to the actuator housing (DETAIL "B").
9.Remove the end of the recliner cable from the actuator.
10.Remove the recliner cable from the wheelchair.
INSTALLING NEW RECLINER CABLES
1.Screw the recliner cable into the recline trigger release lever until the fitting end of the cable is flush with the inside of the handle (DETAIL “A”).
2.Install the end of the recliner cable into the slot in the recline trigger release lever (DETAIL “A”).
3.Screw the cable locking collar onto the trigger release lever until the collar bottoms out on the trigger release lever (DETAIL “A”).
4.While holding the cable locking collar and locking nut, tighten the cable locking nut against the cable locking collar (DETAIL “A”).
CAUTION
Ensure that the recline trigger release lever operating the RIGHT gas cylinder secures to the LEFT side of the adjustable angle stroller handle and that the recline trigger release lever operating the LEFT gas cylinder secures to the RIGHT side of the adjust- able angle stroller handle, allowing the cables to form an “X” pattern (DETAIL “C”). Otherwise, damage to the cables may occur.
5.While standing behind the wheelchair, secure the recline trigger release lever operating the RIGHT gas cylinder to the LEFT side of the adjustable angle stroller handle with the EXISTING mounting screw and locknut (DETAIL “C”). Securely tighten.
CAUTION
DO NOT over tighten the new cable into the actuator housing. Damage to the actua- tor housing can occur.
6.Screw the end of the NEW recliner cable into the actuator housing until the cable is tightened securely (DETAIL “B”).
