FTip for making the best toasties: Only use butter or ordinary margarine when making toasties. Low fat spread or butter substitutes are unsuitable as they overheat and form dark brown deposits. This causes the bread to stick to the inserts.

DFit the waffle inserts (*).
Spread the mixture making sure the entire area is covered but without spilling over the side of the plate.

Close the appliance, wait for 10 seconds then turn the appliance upside down to allow the batter to spread well and to cook evenly. Keep in this position for
P2 minutes.Turn the appliance right side up and leave to cook for a further 1 minute 30. Avoid opening during cooking.
Place the waffles on a cooling tray and wait for 1 minute before eating: they become more crispy.
Traditional waffles
•300 g plain flour • 1 tbsp baking powder • salt • 75 g caster sugar • 100 g melted butter • 2 eggs • 500 ml milk
Mix the flour and the baking powder in a bowl. Make a hole and add the salt, the sugar, the melted butter and the eggs. Gradually beat in the milk.
Leave the batter to stand for 1 hour. Then cook as above.
Crispy waffles
•300 g plain flour • 1 tbsp baking powder • 1 pinch of salt • 1 tbsp sugar
•2 eggs • 400 ml milk
Beat the eggs to a frothy consistency. Mix all the other dry ingredients in a large bowl. Gradually mix in the egg and milk. Beat until a smooth consistency.
Waffles made with beer batter
•330 ml beer • 250 g plain flour • 1 tbsp baking powder • 1 tsp salt • 75 g caster sugar • 50 g melted butter • 4 eggs • 1 tsp lemon juice
Pour the beer into a jug and leave to stand for 5 minutes, until the foam disappears. Mix together the flour, the baking powder and the salt in a large bowl.
In another large bowl, beat the eggs, the beer, the butter, the sugar and the lemon juice for about 2 minutes.
Add the mixture gradually to the flour, one tablespoon at a time. Beat until a smooth consistency.
