IP Configuration CLI Commands

	In order to...	Use the following command...


	Enable IP routing	ip routing

	Set ICMP error messages	ip icmp-errors

	Specify the format of netmasks in	ip netmask-format
	the show command output

	Create and/or enter the Interface	interface
	Configuration Mode

	Assign an IP address and mask to	ip address
	an interface

	Set the administrative state of an IP	ip admin-state
	interface

	Update the interface broadcast	ip broadcast-address
	address

	Define a default gateway (router)	ip default-gateway

	Define the interface RIP route	default-metric
	metric value

	Enable net-directed broadcast	ip directed-broadcast
	forwarding

	Set the IP routing mode of the	ip routing-mode
	interface

	Enable or disable the sending of	ip redirect
	redirect messages on the interface

	Check host reachability and	ping
	network connectivity

	Trace route utility	traceroute

	Create a router Layer 2 interface	set vlan (Layer 3)

	Specify the VLAN on which an IP	ip vlan/ip vlan name
	interface resides
