4. When Windows finds the required VCP driver files, a dialog willwarn that they have not
passed ‘Windows Logo testing’. This is normal for the parameter setupc able’s VCP driver,
soclick Continue Anyway to continue with the ins tallation.
5. Whenthe Completing the F ound New Hardware Wizard message appears, clic k Finish.
A final Found New Hardware message will appear on the task bar to inform you that the
hardwareis nowready tous e.
Note: Ifthe MotiFlex e100 is later connec ted to a different USB port on the host computer,
Windows may report that it has found new hardware. Either install the driver files
againfor the new USB port, or connect the MotiFlex e100 to the original USB port
whereit w ill be recognized in the usual way.
5.1.4 Determining the virtualCOM port number
The parameter setup cable’s virtual COM port appears as a normal COM (s erial) port in
Windows,and is automatic ally allocated a COM port number. The BaldorSPI Interfacesoftware
normally auto-detects the motor regardless of the allocated COM port. If for any reason the
BaldorSPI Interface software fails toauto-detect themotor (sec tion 5.2.1), it may be necessary
tomanually selec tt his COM port.
1. InWindows , right-click the My Computer icon and choose P roperties.
2. Chooset he Hardware tab and click Device Manager.
3. Expandthe Ports(COM & LPT) item.
4. Lookfor the entry named Baldor USB to SPI ParameterSetup Cable (COM...). Thevalue that
appearsaf ter COM is the port number. Make a note of this number.
5.1.5 Installing Baldor SPI Interface
Youwill need to install the Baldor SPI Inter face software to configure the DSM.
1. Insert the CD into the drive.
2. Aftera few sec onds the setup wizard should start automatically. If the setup wizard does not
appear,select Run... from the Windows Startmenu and ty pe
d:\Baldor_SPI_Interface.exe
wheredrepr esents the drive letter of the CD device.
Followthe on-sc reen instructions to install the software. T he setup Wizard will copy the files
toappropriate folder s on the hard drive.
