6. Operation

6.1 Powering On and Backlighting

Figure 6-1 shows the tester’s backlight selection screen. Figure 6-2 illustrates the tester’s power button.

POWERING ON: Press the power button (PWR) and release to turn ON the tester. The “backlighting” screen appears (see Figure 6-1). Pressing the select (SEL) button while this screen is present turns on LCD lighting (“backlighting”). Backlighting is important when working in dim light, but it shortens battery life.

NOTE: Once enabled, the LCD will remain backlit until the tester is powered OFF. The backlight selection screen (Figure

6-1) is always lighted during the 3-second period that it is displayed. This allows you to turn the tester ON in a dark area and SELECT backlighting during the process.
