Pull the paper tray completely out of the machine.

a Turn off the machine’s power switch. Unplug the telephone line cord first, disconnect all cables, and then unplug the power cord from the AC power outlet.

c Use both hands to slowly pull out the jammed paper.

d Press the front cover release button and open the front cover.

Troubleshooting and routine maintenance

e Slowly take out the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly. The jammed paper may be pulled out with the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly, or this may release the paper so you can pull it out of the paper tray opening.

After you have just used the machine, some internal parts of the machine will be extremely hot. Wait at least 10 minutes for the machine to cool down before attempting to clear the paper jam.

We recommend that you place the drum unit and toner cartridge assembly on a clean, flat surface with a sheet of disposable paper or cloth underneath it in case you accidentally spill or scatter toner.

To prevent damage to the machine from static electricity, DO NOT touch the electrodes shown in the illustration.
