Chapter 2 Installing the Cisco Nexus 5000 Series Switches

Installing the Switch

Fasten the chassis to the front of the rack with two 12-24 or 10-32 screws on each side.

Installing the Cisco Nexus 5548 Switch

This section describes how to use the rack-mount kit provided with the switch to install the Cisco Nexus 5548 switch into a cabinet or rack that meets the requirements described in Appendix A, “Cabinet and Rack Installation.”

Note The Cisco Nexus 5548 can be orderd wih front to back airflow but the Cisco Nexus 558UP can be alternatively ordered with back to front airflow. Make sure its air intakes are positioned in a cold isle.

Caution If the rack is on wheels, ensure that the brakes are engaged or that the rack is otherwise stabilized.

Table 2-2lists the items contained in the rack-mount kit provided with the switch.
