Procedure

Press power button.

Click Start⊕Shut Down.

■ Press suspend button.** or

■ Select Standby (Windows 98 only) on the Shut Down menu.

If the computer will be disconnected from external power for more than

two weeks—To extend the useful life of the battery pack, shut down the computer, then remove the battery pack and store it in a cool, dry place.

If you plan to resume within two weeks—Initiating Hibernation clears the screen, saves your work to the hard drive, and uses less power than Suspend (Standby). A fully charged battery pack supports Hibernation indefinitely.

	or	System beeps once.
	■ Press power button.

Your work returns to the screen.

*In Windows 98 the term Standby replaces the term Suspend.
