Clearing the Power-On Password

Presario 1800 Series

Clearing the Power-On Password

ÄCAUTION: Clearing the Power-on password also removes all setup attributes that are programmed in the CMOS.

If you do not know the Power-on password, clear it by performing the following steps:

1.Turn off the Notebook.

2.Disconnect the power cord.

3.Remove the battery.

4.Remove the Palmrest cover.

5.Remove the keyboard.

6.Remove the Heatspreader.

7.Locate the CMOS switch to the right of the CD/DVD drive on the system board.

8.Slide the switch to the right 1 holding it in this position for at least 15 seconds to ensure that the password is cleared.

9. Reassemble the Notebook (refer to Removal and Replacement later in this MSG).

10.Turn on the Notebook to verify that the power-on-password has been cleared. If it has not been cleared, repeat this procedure.
