NOTICE: To disconnect a network cable, first unplug the cable from your
computer and then unplug it from the network wall jack.
3Disconnect the computer power cable from the wall outlet, and then
press the power button to ground the system board.
4Open the computer cover (see page 67).
5Locate jumper PSWD on the system board (see page 70) and remove
the jumper plug.
6Close the computer cover (see page 90), plug your computer into an
electrical outlet, and turn on the computer.
This process erases the existing password(s).
7Shut down the computer (see page 20).
8Turn off any attached devices and disconnect them from their
electrical outlets.

10 Open the computer cover (see page 67).
11 Reinstall the PSWD jumper plug on pins 2 and 3 (pin 1 is marked on
the system board).
12 Close the computer cover (see page 90), plug your computer into an
electrical outlet, and turn on the computer.
Turning on your computer with the PSWD jumper installed reenables
the password feature.
Replacing the Battery
A coin-cell battery maintains computer configuration, date, and time
information. The battery can last several years.
If you have to repeatedly reset time and date information after turning on
the computer, replace the battery.
