To replace a blower:

1Use the system management software to determine which blower has failed.

2Turn off the system and disconnect the power cord and external peripherals.

3Open the case. See “Opening the case” on page 18 and “Preventing static electricity discharge” on page 17.

4Unplug the correct blower cable from the system board and remove the cable from the cable clamps.

5Lift the blower off of the pins on the bottom of the chassis.

6Insert the new blower onto the pins on the bottom of the chassis.

7Insert the blower cable into the cable clamps. Make sure it does not get pinched in the cover or block airflow.

8Plug the blower cable into the connector on the system board. See

“System board” on page 6 for the locations of the blower connectors.

9Close the case. See “Closing the case” on page 20.

10Reconnect the power cord and external peripherals, then turn on the system.
