Running the Fiber-Optic Test

Running the Test

Read all of the Fiber-Optic Test instructions in this section
before running the test. The user must be familiar with the
correct LED lighting sequence in order to determine if the
fiber-optics are connected properly.
Once you are familiar with the test instructions, run the test as follows.
1. De-energize the dr ive following the procedures out lined in the installation and
startup manual GEH-6381.
(Confirm that the swit chgear, control breaker CB1 and char ger switch LSW1 are
open and locked out, tagg ed out and checked for zero voltage. That the DC bus
is fully discharged and checked for zero voltage. That sa fety grounds have been
applied usi ng proper groundin g procedures.)
2. With safety ground s applied and the converter cabinet doors open, close control
breaker CB1 a nd run the Cell Test Wizard from the tool box. Choose th e Fiber-
Optic Test.
3. From the Fibe r-Optic Test dia log box press Exec ute.
4. From the drive cabinet , observe the LED lighting sequen ce. The LEDs are
located on th e IGBT gate driver boa rds (IGDM). If th e observed LED li ghting
sequence matches the correct LED lighting sequence (See Figure 1), then the
test passed.

Figure 1 shows the dynami c brake and phase assemblies insi de the drive cabinets.
The dynamic brake assembl y on the left is located in the sour ce cabinet. The phase
leg assemblies are located in the load cabinet.
