Drive Commissionin g: Tachometer Support
The Innovation Series dr ive can operate with or without a ta chometer. Three
different tachomet er modes are available in the dri ve:
• Tachless control: The tachless motor control algorithm provides motor speed
and torque control with out tachometer feedback.
• Tach control and sfb: The ta chometer-based motor contr ol algorithm uses
tachometer feedback to p rovide motor speed and torque con trol.
• Tachles ctl/Tach sf b: The motor control uses tachomet er feedback to provide
motor speed control, bu t does not use tachometer feedback t o provide torque
control.

Drive Commissioning: Tachometer Pulses PerRevolution
Motor tach PPR specifies the number of pulses per one revolut ion of the digital A-
Quad-B tachometer. Th e drive performs an internal con version between basic counts
and quadrature count s, so the quadrature nature of the ta chometer does not need to be
considered when sett ing Motor tach PPR.
Set Motor tach PPR to the number of tachometer pulses per revolution.

Drive Commissioning: Tachometer Loss Protection
If the drive detects the loss of tachometer feedback, it can take one of two actions:
• Trip: The Tach loss trip fault is reported and the drive stops runnin g.
• Alarm: The Tach loss alarm is reported and the dri ve continues to run u sing the
tachless motor con trol algorithm..
Select the action the dri ve should take in response to the loss of t achometer feedback.
