Using the WSUPGRD Utility

Prerequisites

Prerequisites

A typical upgrade requires the following ﬁles in SYS:PUBLIC:

•WSUPGRD.EXE

•LSL.COM

•IPXODI.COM

•Appropriate ODI LAN drivers (for example, NE2000.COM)

•Auxiliary files

•The auxiliary files are optional but can make upgrading a complex network easier.

• DRVRXLAT.TXT

This ﬁle is in SYS:PUBLIC. It contains one line for each ODI LAN driver type in use on the network.

Each line has the hexadecimal hardware identiﬁcation of the IPX LAN driver, the path to the ﬁles, and the name of the corresponding ODI LAN driver.

If no DRVRXLAT.TXT ﬁle exists or if no line with the correct hardware identiﬁcation is found in the DRVRXLAT.TXT ﬁle, then WSUPGRD looks in the PUBLIC directory for an ODI LAN driver with the same name as the existing IPX LAN driver.

If it fails to ﬁnd an ODI driver, no upgrade is performed.

•driver_name.LDC

The .LDC ﬁles are in the same directory as the ODI LAN drivers of the same name (driver_name.COM).

These ﬁles contain lines that are to be copied to the NET.CFG ﬁle in addition to any lines the utility creates normally.
