Configuring the server

The following configuration programs are provided with the
server:
Co nfig ura tion/Se tup U tili ty
The Configuration/Setup Utility program is part of the

basic i nput /output system

(

BIOS

) code that comes with
the ser v er. You c an use this program to configure
serial and parallel port assignments, change in terrupt
request (IRQ) settings, change the drive startup
sequence, set the date and time, and set passwords.
See “Using the Configuration/Setup Utility program” for
more information.
SCSISelect Utility
With the built-in SCSISelect Utility program, you can
config ure the device s attached to the integrated SCSI
controller. Use this p rogram to change defaul t values,
re s olv e con f ig uration con f li ct s, an d per fo r m a low- l ev e l
forma t on a SCSI ha rd disk dr ive. See “Using the
SCSISelect utility program” on page 37 for more infor-
mation.
ServerGuide CDs
The ServerG uide CDs incl ude software setu p and
installation tools specifically designed for IBM Netfinity
servers. You can use these CDs during the initial
instal lation o f the serv er to configure the server hard-
ware and simplify the network operating system instal-
lation. The ServerGuide CDs also contain a collection
of appl icat ion prog rams, w hich you can instal l after the
server is up and runnin g.
ServeRAID programs
The ServeRAID programs come with the optional Serv-
eRAID adapters and with server models that have a
ServeRAID adapter preinstalled. If a ServeRAID
adapter has been installed in th e serv er, you must use
the ServeRAID configuration program to define and
config ure the disk-array sub system before you install
the ope rating system.

Configuration/Setup Utility program and descriptions of the
menu choices avai labl e.

Starting the Configuration/Setup Utility

program

To start the Configuration/Setup Utility program:
1. Turn on the ser v er and watch the mo nitor screen.
2. When the message Press F1 for Configura-
tion/Setup appears , press F1.
3. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.
