General preferences

The General Preferences screen enables you to set the time, date, auto shutoff interval, and sounds for your companion.

See Chapter 1 for information on setting the time and date.

Auto-off delay

Your companion has an automatic shutoff feature that turns off the power and backlight after a period of inactivity. This feature helps conserve battery power in case you forget to turn off your companion.

If you find that your companion shuts itself off before you finish reviewing the information on the screen, you should increase the time setting of the automatic shutoff feature.

To set the Auto-off delay:

1.Tap the Auto-off pick list.

2.Tap the setting you want to use for the automatic shutoff feature: 1 minute, 2 minutes, or 3 minutes.

Cradle settings

You can choose to leave your companion on when it is in the cradle during a HotSync operation, or when you are recharging the battery, so you can continue to view your data.

To change the cradle setting:

■Tap the Stay on in Cradle check box to leave your companion on when it is in the cradle.
