7–3 — Reserved. These bits are undefined; for compatibility with future devices,

2 AUTOTXM Automatic Transmit off mode for master mode
0 = Clearing this b it puts the TEN bit into normal operation
1 = Setting this bit a nd the TXMM bit causes TEN to be ig nored. Every
time a word is loaded in to the transmit shift registe r from the transmit
holding buffer it is transmitted out and then sto ps.
1 TXMM Transmit Master Mode:
0 = Clearing th is bit puts the transmitter in slave mode. In slave m ode, an
external device controls the transm it serial communications. An input
on the STXCLK pin clocks the transmitter.
1 = Setting this bi t puts the transmitter in maste r mode. In master mode,
the internal baud-rate gene rator controls the transmit serial
communications. The baud-rate generator ’s output clocks th e
internal transmitter and appear s on the STXCLK pin.
0 RXMM Recei ve Master Mode:
0 = Clearing this b it puts the receiver in slave mode. I n slave mode, an
external device controls the receive serial com munications. An input
on the SRXCLK pin clocks the receiver.
1 = Setting this bit puts the receiver in master mode. In master mode, t he
internal baud-rate generator con trols the receive serial
communications. The baud-rate generator ’s output clocks th e
internal receiver and appears on the SRXCLK pin.
