Then, the source MAC address of a receivedpacket is learned based on the normalized
VLANconfiguration.
Foroutput packets, if the VLAN tags associated with an egresslogical interface do not
matchthenormalized VLAN tags within the packet, then appropriateVLAN tag operations
(suchas push-push, pop-pop, pop-swap, swap-swap, swap,and others) are implicitly
madeto convert the normalized VLAN tags to the VLAN tagsfor the egress logical
interface.Formore information about these operations, see the Junos OS Routing Protocols
ConfigurationGuide.
SendingTagged or Untagged Packetsover VPLS Virtual InterfacesIfthe packets sent over the VPLS virtual interfaces(vt- or lsi- interfaces) need to be
taggedby the normalized VLAN, use one of the following configurationstatements:
•vlan-idvlan-number—Tagsall packets sent over the VPLS virtual interfacewith the
configuredvlan-number.For an example of this configuration, see“Example: Configuring
OneVPLS Instance for Several VLANs” on page55.
•vlan-tagsouter outer-vlan-number inner inner-vlan-number—Tagsall packets sent over
theVPLS virtual interfaces with the specified inner and outer VLAN tags.
Ifthe incoming VLAN tagsidentifying a Layer 2 logical interfaceare removed when packets
aresent over VPLS virtual interfaces, use the vlan-idnone statement.
NOTE: Evenwhen the vlan-id none statement is configured, the packets can
stillcontain other customer VLAN tags.
Configuringa Normalized VLANThefollowing factors areimportant when configuring a normalized VLAN:
•Useeither the vlan-id vlan-number statement (to tag all packetswith one normalized
VLANtag) or the vlan-tags outer outer-vlan-numberinner inner-vlan-number statement
(totag all packets with the normalized outer and inner VLAN tags)if you want to tag
packetssent onto the VPLS pseudowires.
•Usethe vlan-id none statement to remove the incoming VLAN tagsidentifying a Layer
2logical interface when packets aresent over VPLS pseudowires. This statement is
alsoused to configure shared VLAN learning.
NOTE: Theoutgoing packets canstill contain customer VLAN tags.
•Ifintegrated routing and bridging (IRB) is configuredfor a bridge domain or a VPLS
routinginstance, then you must configure a normalized VLAN using one of the following
statements:
•vlan-idvlan-number
•vlan-idnone
