Example:Configuring Policing and Marking of Traffic Enteringa VPLS CoreThisexample firewall filter allowsa service provider to limit the aggregatebroadcast
trafficentering the virtual private LAN service (VPLS)core. The broadcast, unknown
unicast, and non-IP multicasttraffic receivedfrom one of the service provider’s customers
ona logical interface has a policer applied. The service provider has also configured a
two-rate,three-colorpolicer to limit the customer’s IP multicast traffic. For more
informationonthe configuration of policers, see the Junos OS Classof Service Configuration
Guide.
Theposition of the router is shown in Figure 14 on page 96.
Figure14: Policing and Marking Traffic Entering a VPLSCore
Thereare four major parts to the configuration:
•Thepolicer for broadcast,unknown unicast, and non-IP multicast traffic.This example
marksthe loss priority as high if this type of traffic exceeds50 Kbps.
•Thetwo-rate, three-colorpolicer for IP multicast traffic. This exampleconfigures a
committedinformation rate(CIR) of 4 Mbps, a committed burst size of 256 Kbytes, a
peakinformation rate of 4.1Mbps, and a peak burst size of 256 Kbytes (the same as
theCIR).
•Thefilter that applies the two policers toVPLS.
•Theapplication of the filter to the customer interfaceconfiguration as an input filter.
NOTE: Thisexample does not present exhaustiveconfiguration listings for
allrouters in the figures. However, you can use this example with a broader
configurationstrategy tocomplete the MX Series router network Ethernet
Operations,Administration, and Maintenance (OAM)configurations.
