RECORDING/PLAYBACK ON VHS DECK

Basic Recording

Turn on the TV and select the AV mode.

Slide TV/CABLE/SAT switch to the right.

If the recorder is turned on with HDD deck selected, there may be about 30 seconds’ delay in starting to show pictures on the screen.

NOTES:

It is not possible to record a TV programme on both the HDD deck and the VHS deck simultaneously. In addition, it is not possible to record simultaneously from the same external input.

When the end of the tape is reached during recording, the VHS deck start to rewind the tape automatically.

A Load a cassette.

Insert a cassette with the record safety tab intact. Make sure the window side is up, the rear label side is facing you and the arrow on the front of the cassette is pointed toward the recorder.

Do not apply too much pressure when inserting.

The recorder’s power comes on automatically.

While “– – – –“ is blinking on the front display panel, the tape will run for a few seconds to search for the tape number.

If you want to use VCR Navigation to select the programme

after recording with this recorder, set “NAVIGATION” to “ON” ( pg. 79).

B Select the VHS deck.

On the recorder

Press S-VHS/HDDrepeatedly until S-VHS indicator lights on the recorder.

On the remote control

Press S-VHS.

The S-VHS indicator lights on the recorder.

C Choose a programme.

Press VCR PR +/– or the number keys. Or push the JOG dial and turn it to the left or right to select the channel you wish to record.

D Set the tape speed.

Press MODE. The current setting appears on the front display panel or TV screen. Press MODE again to change the setting while the tape speed is displayed on the TV screen.

E Start recording.

Press and hold 7 and press 4 on the remote control, or press 7 on the recorder.

The S-VHS/VHS REC mode indicator lights on the recorder.

B.E.S.T. takes place at the beginning of both the first SP and the first LP recording after inserting the cassette. ( pg. 45)

If “DIRECT REC” is set to “ON”, the programme that appears on the TV screen will be recorded ( pg. 82).

F Pause/Resume recording.

Press 9. Press 4 to resume recording.

G Stop recording.

Press 8. Then pressto remove the cassette.
