Your phone’s GPS Enable d feature uses
information from G lobal Positioning System (GPS)
satellites orbiting the Ea rth to determine the
approximate geographical location of your phone,
expressed as latitude and longitude. The
availability and accuracy of this location
information (and th e amount of time tha t it takes to
calculate it) will vary depend ing on the env ironme nt
in which you are using the GPS feature. For
example, GPS location fi xes are often difficult to
obtain indoors, in cover ed locations, between high
buildings, or in other situ at i ons w he re you ha ve not
established a clear broad view of the sky. SEE:
“IMPORTANT: Things to K eep in Mind”.
When you make a 911 emergency call, the GPS

appears on the ph one’s display.
Java applications loa de d o n yo ur ph one can also
request your locatio n. If your phone is connec ted to
a laptop computer or simi lar device, software
running on that de vice can request yo ur location.
To protect your privacy , yo u ca n co nt rol whether
these requests are granted.
