Red-eye reduction

The flash will discharge regardless of the light conditions.

• To use the flash, press the fbutton to make the flash pop up. When the flash is closed, it will not discharge (Flash Off).

• The flash will not discharge (Flash Off) when the drive mode is set to j or p or the focus mode is set to s or r.

• The flash discharges twice, first a pre-flash and then a second time to take the picture. In the red-eye reduction modes, the interval between the pre-flash and the main flash is longer.

• You cannot select Auto or Auto + Red-eye Reduction in a, bor c mode.

• Use the flash to prevent camera shake if a blinks when the shutter release button is pressed halfway.

1 Press the b button in Capture mode.

The flash mode changes each time the button is pressed and the icon appears on the LCD monitor.

The camera is ready to take pictures in the selected flash mode.
