Troubleshooting
Variousproblems can arise when configuring and using the PSFR-CP41. This
sectionis provided to help guide the user through some of the basic methods of
identifying faultsin the setup and configuration of the unit.
Mostproblems are found in the initial installation. In general, it is wise to check
all connections and reviewthe configuration before proceeding with further
troubleanalysis. Simplify the installation if possible, reducing it to the most basic
configurationthen adding elements one at a time and verifying the operation at
each step.

Indicators

The LED indicatorson the PSFR- CP41are useful for diagnosing various
problems.
The

Powerindicator

turns on when power is applied tothe r outer.Lack of
powerindication suggests the unit being turned off, a problem withthe power
suppliedto the unit, or an inter nalpr oblemwith the unit.
The

Faultindicator

is litwhen the PSFR-CP41 detects a fault condition.
Faultscan occur as a result of Power On Self Test(POST) failure or opera-
tional failures. It is normal for this indicator to flash on when the unit is
poweredup or reset. If the fault indicator stays lit, contact Siemens support.
The

SCSI indicator

showsSCSI activity when lit. This should only occur
brieflyduring power up or configuration, and relatively often when the unit is
transferringdata. If the SCSI indicator stays continually lit without corre-
spondingtarget device activity, it may indicate a problemwith the SCSI bus
configuration.Verify the SCSI bus configuration.
The

Fibre Channel indicator

showsFibre Channel activity when lit. If this
indicatorfails to light at all, or stays continually lit without corresponding
SCSI busactivity, it may indicate a problem with the Fibre Channel link.
Verifythe Fibre Channel Configuration.
The

Ethernet indicator

signifies Ethernet activity when lit.If the light fails to
flicker,or if it stays continually lit, it may indicate a problem with the network
connection.Verify the network connection. The port must be connected to a
10BaseT Ethernet network to function properly.
