Defining interfaces

You can add the following objects to an interface:

Object

Attribute

Operation

Business rule

Description

Named property of an interface that defines the characteristics of an interface

Implementation of a service that can be requested from any object of the interface in order to affect behavior

Written statement specifying what the information system must do or how it must be structured to support business needs

You add an object to an interface from the list in the page corresponding to the object, in the interface property sheet.

When you add an object to an interface in this way, you in fact create a copy of the object. The new object exists as a unique object, and you can then make changes to it as you would to any object in the model.

Adding an attribute to an interface

An attribute is a named property of an object that defines the characteristics of the object.

You can add attributes to an interface that already exist in the model and which belong to other objects.

ϖTo add an attribute to an interface:

1Double-click an interface in the model. The interface property sheet appears.

2Click the Attributes tab.
