Specify the following items as required and press [OK].
[USER PASSWORD] — Press this button to enter a password required to open a secure PDF file. No user
password is initially set.
USE AUTHENTICATION CODE AS PASSWORD — Press [ENABLE] to use a user authentication user name for
[USER PASSWORD] or [DISABLE] to use a password entered in the [USER PASSWORD] box.
[MASTER PASSWORD] — Press this button to enter a password required to change the security setting of a
secure PDF file. No master password is initially set.
ENCRYPTION LEVEL — Select the encryption level for a secure PDF file.
y128bit AES — The encryption level compatible for Acrobat 7.0, PDF V1.6 is set.
y128bit RC4 — The encryption level compatible for Acrobat 5.0, PDF V1.4 is set.
y40bit RC4 — The encryption level compatible for Acrobat 3.0, PDF V1.1 is set.
FORCED ENCRYPTION — Press [ENABLE] to allow this equipment to output only secure PDF files when data
scanned are generated and output. Press [DISABLE] to allow this equipment to output file formats (JPEG, TIFF,
etc.) other than the secure PDF.
AUTHORITY — Select the authority for a secure PDF file.
yPRINT— Printing is allowed.
yCHANGE— Changing the document is allowed.
yEXTRACT— Content Copying or Extraction is allowed.
yACCESSIBILITY— Content Extraction for Accessibility is allowed.
When you press each button ([USER PASSWORD] and [MASTER PASSWORD]), the on-screen keyboard is
displayed. Enter a value using the keyboard and digital keys, and press [OK] to set the entry.
yDifferent passwords must be set for [USER PASSWORD] and [MASTER PASSWORD].
yEnter 1 to 32 alphanumeric characters for [USER PASSWORD] and [MASTER PASSWORD]. The input
password appears as asterisks (*).
yWhen the lock icon next to the [USER PASSWORD] box is highlighted ( ), the user cannot change the
password.
yWhen the lock icon next to the [MASTER PASSWORD] box is highlighted ( ), the user cannot change
the encryption level or authority.
yIf “40bitRC4” is selected and either “Extract” or “Accessibility” is selected or deselected, both settings are
enabled or disabled accordingly.
yWhen you select [ENABLE] for the Forced Encryption mode, outputting file formats (JPEG, TIFF, etc.) other
than secure PDF is prohibited. Furthermore, the following Scan to File operations which cannot generate
secure PDFs will be unavailable.
