Try to access the ZyXEL Device using another service, such as Telnet. If you can access the ZyXEL Device, check the remote management settings to find out why the ZyXEL Device does not respond to HTTP.

If your computer is connected to the WAN port or is connected wirelessly, use a computer that is connected to a LAN/ETHERNET port.

I can see the Login screen, but I cannot log in to the ZyXEL Device.

1Make sure you have entered the user name and password correctly. The default password is 1234. This fields are case-sensitive, so make sure [Caps Lock] is not on.

2You cannot log in to the web configurator while someone is using the SMT or Telnet to access the ZyXEL Device. Log out of the ZyXEL Device in the other session, or ask the person who is logged in to log out.

3Disconnect and re-connect the power adaptor or cord to the ZyXEL Device.

4If this does not work, you have to reset the device to its factory defaults. See Section 2.2 on page 42.

I cannot access the SMT.

I cannot access the ZyXEL Device via the console port.

1Check to see if the ZyXEL Device is connected to your computer's console port.

2Check to see if the communications program is configured correctly. The communications software should be configured as follows:

VT100 terminal emulation.

9,600 bps is the default speed on leaving the factory. Try other speeds in case the speed has been changed.

No parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, data flow set to none.

I cannot use FTP to upload / download the configuration file. / I cannot use FTP to upload new firmware.
