Postal Requirements

Your postage meter is issued under the oversight of the Canada Post Corporation (CPC) and you must follow some basic requirements.

Mail must have the correct date and postage amount in the me- ter stamp (indicia).

Metered mail must bear the postal code of the address where the postage meter is located and mail processed.

If you move the postage meter to another postal code location, you must update postal code. You can do this by calling Pitney Bowes (see Pitney Bowes Contact List at start of guide).

Each time you add postage to the postage meter, the Pitney Bowes Data Centre automatically performs a postal inspection. If the interval between inspections is more than 60 days, your postage meter's display prompts "Inspection Due." Perform an inspection as instructed in Section 5 - Adding Postage to satisfy the inspection requirement. If the interval between inspections is more than 90 days, the display prompts "Inspection Required." You won't be able to use your postage meter until you add post- age or connect to the Pitney Bowes Data Centre for inspection.

The tape sheets for putting postage on larger items must con- form to postal specifications. For best performance, we recom- mend Pitney Bowes tape sheets. See Section 11 - Supplies and Options for order part numbers.
