Processing a Letter Using the Optional Scale
All mail pieces under 500g are considered Lettermail and the post- age for these items must be calculated using the internal rating feature. The following outlines the procedure for rating Lettermail. NOTE: You cannot key in a postage value for an item that falls within a valid Lettermail postage amount.
1.Place mail piece on scale. The weight of the mail piece appears on the display.
NOTE: If there was no class specified on the display when you placed the mail piece, you may need to scroll and select the de- sired class (if you are unsure if a particular class is best for your mail piece, call your local post office or visit www.canadapost.ca). Otherwise, the postage meter selects a class based on the weight of the mail piece.
2.The display shows the final postage amount and class chosen.
3.Slide the envelope (or tape sheet if mail piece is too big for machine) into the mail deck. The postage meter prints the digital indicia and indicates when to remove the mail piece.
