7. Answering Device

7.1Recording your greeting message

You can record your own greeting message for TAD/FAX mode, for a maximum of 16 (default) or 60 seconds in length. We recommend you record a message of less than 12 seconds to make it easier to receive faxes.

1Set feature #77 to “TAD/FAX” (page 55) beforehand.

2Press {RECORD} 2 times.

3Press {SET}.

LA long beep will sound.

4Speak clearly about 20 cm away from the microphone.

L The display will show the remaining recording time.

5When finished recording, press {STOP}. L The unit will repeat your message.

Note:

LYou can choose 60 seconds for your TAD/FAX greeting message (feature #54, page 54).

–If you change the maximum greeting message time to 60 seconds, we recommend that you tell the caller in your TAD/FAX greeting message to press *9 before starting fax transmission.

–If you change the maximum greeting message time from 60 seconds to 16

seconds, your greeting message will be deleted. When a call is received, the pre- recorded greeting message will be played.

Checking the greeting message

1.Set feature #77 to “TAD/FAX” (page 55) beforehand.

2.Press {AUTO ANSWER} repeatedly to display the following.

TAD/FAX MODE		ON

OFF

LThe unit will play the greeting message.

7.1.1Erasing your recorded greeting message

1Set feature #77 to “TAD/FAX” (page 55) beforehand.

2Press {ERASE} 2 times.

3Press {SET}.

LTo cancel erasing, press {STOP}.

4Press {SET}.

Note:

L If you erase your TAD/FAX greeting message, the pre-recorded greeting message will be played when a call is received.

7.2Leaving a message for others or yourself

To leave a private message for yourself or someone else, you can record a voice memo. This memo can be played back later, either directly or remotely.

LKeep the front cover page open for button locations.

1Press {RECORD}.

2Press {SET}.

LA long beep will sound.

3Speak clearly about 20 cm away from the microphone.

4When finished recording, press {STOP}.
