Setting Redundancy
When you enable redundancy between two ports, the ports are
automatically enabled.
Port 1 (or 3) as the primary link, which passes data.
Port 2 (or 4) as the redundant link, which does not pass data in either
direction. However, the link is monitore d for any failures (the Port
Status LED indicates any problems).
For maximum cable plant fault tolerance, connect bo th the primary and
backup ports back to the central concentrato r (Figure2-10). This
configuration allows the backup port to automatically take over if the
primary link fails
