3 - 14 ONline Ethernet 10BASE-FB Module Installati on a n d Operation Guide
When an ONline management m odule is installed in a concen trator, all of
the dip switch settings on the 10BASE-FL Module are overridden.
When you first install the mod ule:
1. The network (channel) defaults to isolated m ode. The ports are
automatically disabled so that unapproved users cannot be added.
Therefore, you must enable the ports you w ish to use and set the
ports to the appropriate Ethernet netw ork through the management
commands.
2. All other module settings retain t he same default values as the dip
switch default values. The refore, you only need to ch anges these
values through management if you do not w ant the default values.
This section describes the m anagement commands to set these features.
For additional information on the available network management features,

Enabling Ports
You can enable or disable each of the four ports on the module. Wh en a
port is enabled, it can transmit data onto and receive data from the
network to which the module i s assigned. Disable all unused ports on the
10BASE-FB Modules to prevent the Status ind ic ators from flashing a No
Light condition.
To enable or disable a specific port, use the following m anagement
command:
SET PORT {
slot.port
} MODE {enab le}
{
slot
.all} {disable}
