Installing the Module
You do not need to power down t he ONline System Concentrator to install
the 10BASE-FB Modules. You can insert or remove the m odule while the
concentrator is operating (this is called a hot swap).
To install a 10BASE-FB Module:
1. Do one of the following:
❑If you do not have a management m odule installed in the
concentrator, set the dip switches on the board (if differe nt from
the default setting). After you comp le te the installation
procedure, go to the Monitoring the Front Panel section to verify
the installation.
❑If you have a management module instal led in the concentrator,
complete this installation procedure and then confi gure the
module using the commands as describ ed in the Configuring the
Module section.
2. Locate a blank slot in the concentrator. If there is no blank slot,
remove a blank panel on the c oncentrator to expose a slot for a
10BASE-FB Module.
