Chapter 5 Remote Interface Reference

Status System Commands

Status System Commands

An application program is included in chapter 7 which shows the use of the Status System Registers. Refer to page 330 for more information.

Status Byte Register Commands

See the table on page 277 for the register bit definitions.

*STB?

Query the summary (condition) register in this register group. This command is similar to a Serial Poll but it is processed like any other instrument command. This command returns the same result as

a Serial Poll but the “Master Summary” bit (bit 6) is not cleared if a Serial Poll has occurred.

*SRE <enable_value>

*SRE?

Enable bits in the enable register in this register group. A *CLS (clear status) will not clear the enable register but it does clear all bits in the event register. A STATus:PRESet does not clear the bits in the Status Byte enable register. To enable bits in the enable register, you must write a decimal value which corresponds to the binary-weighted sum of the bits you wish to enable in the register.

The *SRE? query returns a decimal value which corresponds to the binary-weighted sum of all bits enabled by the *SRE command.
