OpenBoot initialization commands

The following table describes the OpenBoot initialization command sequences that are provided by the system. These commands are useful in some situations in which the system fails to boot. To use the commands, hold down the keys after turning on the power to your system. Keep the keys pressed until the keyboard lights flash and the screen displays the ok prompt.

Stop

Bypass POST. This command does not depend on

 

the security mode.

 

Note:

 

Some systems bypass POST as a

 

default. In such cases, use Stop+A

 

to start POST.

 

 

Stop+A

Abort.

 

 

Stop+D

Enter diagnostic mode (set diag-switch?to

 

true).

 

 

Stop+F

Enter Forth on TTYB instead of probing. Use exit

 

to continue with the initialization sequence. This is

 

useful if hardware is broken.

 

 

Stop+N

Reset NVRAM contents to default values. If this is

 

done, you must readminister the NVRAM options.

 

! CAUTION:

 

Do not use this command under

 

normal operation. Running this

 

command causes a system to lose

 

the factory NVRAM settings and

 

the system will not boot properly.
