1 IP address
The “IP address” is the internal IP addre ss of the Router. The default IP
address is “192.168.2.1”. To access the advanced setup interface, type
this IP address into the address bar of yo ur browser. This addr ess can
be changed if needed . To change the IP addr ess, type in the new IP
address and click “Apply Changes”. The IP addr ess you choose sh ould
be a non-routable IP. Exampl es of a non-rout able IP are:
192.168.x.x (where x is anything bet ween 1 and 254)
10.x.x.x (where x is anythi ng between 1 and 254)
172.y.x.x (where x is anything betwee n 1 and 254 and y i s anything
between 16 and 31)
2 subnet Mask
There is no need to ch ange the subnet m ask. This is a un ique, advanced
feature of your Belkin Ro uter. It is possible to change the subn et mask
if necessary; however, do NOT make changes to the subnet mask
unless you have a specif ic reason to do s o. The default set ting is
“255.255.255.0”.
3 dHCP server
The DHCP server func tion makes settin g up a network ver y easy by
assigning IP addresse s to each compute r on the network a utomatically.
The default setting is “On”. The DHCP serve r can be turned OFF if
necessary; however, in or der to do so you mu st manually set a static
IP address for each co mputer on your net work. To turn off the DHCP
server, select “Off” and click “Apply Cha nges”.
4 IP Pool
The range of IP addres ses set aside fo r dynamic assign ment to the
computers on your net work. The default is 2–100 (99 computers). If you
want to change this numb er, you can do so by en tering a new star ting
and ending IP address and clicking on “App ly Changes”. The DHCP
server can assign 100 IP addresses auto matically. This mea ns that
you cannot specify an IP address pool larger than 100 co mputers. For
example, starting at 5 0 means you have to e nd at 150 or lower so as not
to exceed the 100-client limit. The star ting IP address m ust be lower in
number than the ending IP address.
