setting WPa/WPa2-Persona l (PsK)
Both WPA and WPA2 are availabl e in Personal (PS K) mode and
Enterprise (RADIUS) m ode. Typically, Personal (PSK) is the mod e
that will be used in a h ome environment, while Enterprise ( RADIUS) is
implemented in a busin ess environment w here an external radius server
distributes the networ k key to the clients automatically. Your Router
supports WPA/WPA2-Per sonal (PSK).
1 After you’ve set up your Ro uter, go to the “Secur ity”
page under “Wireless” and select “WPA /WPA2-Personal
(PSK)” from the “Secur ity Mode” drop- down menu.
2 For “Authentication”, select “WPA-PSK ”, “WPA2-PSK”,
or “WPA-PSK + WPA2-PSK”. This set ting will have to be
identical on the wirel ess clients that you set up. “WPA-
PSK + WPA2-PSK” mode will a llow the Router to s upport
clients running either WPA or WPA2 securit y.
3 Enter your pre-shared key ( PSK). This can b e from eight to
63 characters and ca n be letters, nu mbers, or symbol s. This
same key must be used o n all of the wirele ss clients that you
set up. For example, your P SK might be someth ing like: “Smith
family network key”. Click “Appl y Changes” to fini sh. You
must now set all wirele ss clients to matc h these settings .
IMPoRTaNT: Make sure your wireless computer s are updated to
work with WPA or WPA2, and have the correct set tings to get prope r
connection to the Route r.
