5 lease Time
The length of time the D HCP server will reserve the IP a ddress for each
computer. We recommend that you leave the leas e time set to “Foreve r”.
The default setting is “Forever”, meaning tha t any time a compu ter is
assigned an IP addres s by the DHCP ser ver, the IP address w ill not
change for that parti cular computer. Set ting lease times for shorter
intervals such as one day or one hour fr ees IP addresse s after the
specified period of time. This also me ans that a part icular computer’s
IP address may change over time. If you have s et any of the other
advanced features of th e Router such as D MZ or client IP fi lters, these
are dependent on the I P address. For thi s reason, you will not want the
IP address to change.
6 local domain Name
The default setting is “Belkin”. You can set a lo cal domain name
(network name) for your n etwork. There is no need to chang e this setting
unless you have a specif ic advanced nee d to do so. You can name the
network anything you wa nt such as “MY NE TWORK”.
Viewing the dHCP Client list Page
You can view a list of the co mputers (known a s clients), which ar e
connected to your netwo rk. You are able to vie w the IP address (1) of the
computer, the host name (2) ( if the computer h as been assigne d one),
and the MAC address (3) o f the computer’s net work interface c ard (NIC).
Pressing the “Refresh” (4) button will update the list. If ther e have been
any changes, the list w ill be updated.
