Introduction

Wake-On-USB Keyboard/Mouse

The Wake-On-USB Keyboard/Mouse function allows you to use a USB keyboard or USB mouse to wake up a system that is in the S3 (STR - Suspend To RAM) state.

If you are using this function with a device that is connected to the USB 2.0 port, you need to configure 2 jumpers. Refer to “Jumper Settings for Wake-On-USB 2.0 Keyboard/Mouse” in chapter 2. You also need to enable “Resume on PCI Event” (“IRQ/Event Activity Detect” field) in the Power Management Setup submenu of the BIOS.

If you are using this function with a device that is connected to the USB 1.1 port, you do not need to configure any jumpers. You only need to enable “USB Resume from S3” (“IRQ/Event Activity Detect” field) in the Power Management Setup submenu of the BIOS. Refer to chapter 3 for more information.

Important:

•If you are using the Wake-On-USB Keyboard/Mouse

function for 2 USB ports, the 5VSB power source of your power supply must support ≥ 1.5A.

•If you are using the Wake-On-USB Keyboard/Mouse

function for 3 or more USB ports, the 5VSB power source of your power supply must support ≥ 2A.

RTC Timer to Power-on the System

The RTC installed on the mainboard allows your system to auto- matically power-on on the set date and time. Refer to “Resume On Alarm” (“IRQ/Event Activity Detect” field) in the Power Management Setup section in chapter 3 for more information.

ACPI STR

The mainboard is designed to meet the ACPI (Advanced Configura- tion and Power Interface) specification. ACPI has energy saving fea- tures that enables PCs to implement Power Management and Plug- and-Play with operating systems that support OS Direct Power Management. Currently, only Windows® 98/2000/ME/XP supports the ACPI function. ACPI when enabled in the Power Management Setup will allow you to use the Suspend to RAM function.
