Colour and cost

Printing in colour costs more than printing in black ink only. To reduce the cost of colour printing, follow these guidelines:

When printing monochrome images, install the Black BJ Cartridge BC-10.

When printing spreadsheet-type graphs, choose coloured hatch patterns instead of solid colours. Hatch patterns typically use less ink and look just as good as solid colours.

Use lighter colours that use more white space; for example, pink instead of red. Although white is a colour, the printer does not produce white ink; it uses the colour of the paper as white.

Avoid using full-colour backgrounds. For colour presentations that do contain a full-colour background, print the background for the final output only, not for drafts.

Some software applications allow you to print several pages of data on one page in condensed size. If available, use this mode for printing multiple pages quickly at a lower cost.
