6. COMMANDS

6.1 Command Notation

[Name] The name of the command.
[Format] The code sequence.
[ ]k indicates the contents in brackets [ ] should be repeated k times.
[Range] Gi v es the allowable ranges, if any, for the com mand parameters.
[Default] Gives the default val ues, if any, for the arguments.
[Description] Describes the function of the command.
“ in the table indicates 0 or 1.
[Notes] Provides important i nformation on setting and using the printer com mand, if necessary.
[Reference] Gives a reference, if any.

6.2 Explanation of Terms

1) Real-time command
Real-time commands are identif ied with a DLE extension such as DLE EOT, DLE ENQ, or DLE
DC4. The printer ex ec ut es these commands as soon as they are received.
2) Obsolete command
Obsolete commands are commands that will not be supported by future printer models.
Therefore, we recommend replacing them with more recent, upward-compatible commands t hat
have the same functions.
3) NV memory write command
NV memory write commands delete or store dat a i n the NV memory (flash ROM)

4) ESC/POS Handshaking Protocol
ESC/POS Handshaking Protocol is a handshaking protocol bet ween the host com puter and the
printer when the printer transmits data. The ESC/POS Handshaking Protocol is requir ed i f the
following commands are executed:

5) Print buffer
The print buffer is used to store image dat a f or printing
6) Receive buffer
The receive buffer is used to store data f rom the host computer. A l l received data is stored in
this buffer and processed in the order receiv ed.
