NOTES: 1. Set the handshaking so that the transmit data can be recei ved.
(DTE: Data Terminal Equipment ) ( DCE : Data Circuit Terminating Equi pm ent)
2. Transmit data to the printer aft er turning on the power and initializing the pr inter.
2.1.1.6 Notes on setting DIP switch 2-1 to ON
1) The printer mechanism stops but does not becom e busy when: an error has occurred, the cov er is
open, printing stops due to a paper-end, or paper is fed using the paper f eed button.
2) W hen setting DIP switc h 2-1 to ON to enabl e handshaking with the pri nter, be sure to chec k the
printer status using the GS a command and the ASB function. In this setting, the defaul t value of
n for GS a is 2. The pri nter automatically transmit s the printer status, depending on online/offl ine
changes.
3) When using DLE EOT, DLE ENQ, and DLE DC4 be sure that the receive buffer does not bec om e
full.
When using a host that cannot transmi t data when the printer is busy:
I f an error has occurred, DLE EOT, DLE ENQ, and DLE DC4 cannot be used when the
printer is busy due to a receive buff er -full state.
When using a host that can transmit data when the printer is busy:
When the receive buffer bec om es full while transmitting bi t-image data, DLE EOT, DLE ENQ
or DLE DC4 used while sending the bi t-image data is processed as bit-im age data. The
data transmitted when the receive buff er is full may be lost.
Example: Check the printer stat us using GS r after transmitting each line of dat a and use
the 4 KB receive buffer. Transmit one li ne of data so that the receive buff er
does not become full.
