2.3Login and Logout

Each time the terminal unit is turned on, register your vessel with the Inmarsat C system to enable communications between your vessel and an LES. This is called login.

Note that you can transmit or receive EGC messages even if you are not logged in.

If you will not be using the FELCOM 16 for a prolonged period, you should logout from the Inmarsat C system, before turning off the terminal unit. The Inmarsat C system will then register you as inactive, notifying anyone trying to call you that you are currently unavailable. If you do not log out before turning off the power, some LESs may attempt to send a message to you. They may charge your correspondent, even if you don’t receive the message.

2.3.1Login

1.Confirm that “SYNC (NCS)” appears at the bottom of the screen.

2.Press the [F7] key to display the Options menu.
