OPERATION

Springpoles

A springpole (D) is any log, branch, rooted stump, or sapling which is bent under tension by other wood so that it springs back if the wood holding it is cut or removed. On a fallen tree, a rooted stump has a high potential of springing back to the upright position during the bucking cut to separate the log from the stump. Watch out for springpoles, they aredangerous.

Estas circunstancias se producen cuando un leño, rama o arbusto está doblado por estarsometidoatensión(D)porotramadera, de manera que vuelve a su posición anterior cuando se corta o se quita la madera que lo sujeta. En el caso de un árbol caído, resulta sumamente posible que esta acción se produzca en la cepa, hasta colocarse en posición vertical, durante el corte del tronco para separar el leño de la cepa.
