D. TROUBLESHOOTING CHARTS

This section provides the instructions for generator checkout and fault isolation. The troubleshooting procedures are presented in Table 7. The table lists typical faults, presents probable cause, and pro- vides the remedy for the majority of generator operational faults.

Table 7: Fault Isolation Procedures

FAULT	PROBABLE CAUSE		REMEDY
No AC output.	Condenser failed.	1.	Check condenser
		NOTE: If you do not have measuring equipment,
		install a known-good condenser. Start the
		generator and check ac output. If the generator
		ac output is normal, the fault was in the original
		condenser.
		2.	Short the condenser leads across each other
			to discharge the condenser.
		NOTE: To make sure you get a good reading,
		discharge the condenser before checking
		capacitance.
		3.	Check capacitance of condensers (refer to
			Table 6 for capacitance values for each
			generator model). Replace condensers that
			do not meet normal capacitance.
	Stator fault.	1.	Check Stator
		2.	Remove bolts (31) from front panel (30). Pull
			the front panel (30) away from frame (28) (to
			provide clearance for removal of control box).
		3.	Remove four screws (34) from front panel
			(30) (to separate the control box [32] from the
			front panel).
		4.	Locate the stator leads. Separate the leads at
			the in-line connector.
		5.	Use an adhesive label or tag to identify the
			leads (use the label or tag to make sure you
			have the proper connection).
		6.	Measure resistance between the in-line
			connector on the stator leads (refer to Table 6
			for resistance values for each generator
			model).
		7.	Replace stator if it does not meet resistance
			values in Table 6.
